Until the end of the month you can catch the wonderful group exhibition 'We Are Tidal' created by @jeneferodell at @urchinwinesmargate 💖 . The show features works by local artists of different disciplines, responding to Jenefer's poetry. Her poetry strikes a chord with many, talking vibrantly about the strength and inner life of women through different female journeys - becoming a mother, falling in love, objectification, self love, passion, conflict... and the joy of finding others who understand you. . I created this piece in response to the poem 'Profanity' in which, (in my understanding), the protagonist is being shouted at in the street, as so often happens. . She takes the words out of the air and in to her hands, and owns them for all their power, reclaiming them back to the timelessness of female mystery - c*nt, life/death bringer, creator. Musing upon women's extraordinary work. . "And I’ll tell them Casually and carefully and eye to eye I am woman I am the ovary of everything I am stigma, I am style I am the colour that cracks the earth wide open" . . It has been a freeing experience to work in a responsive way like this again, and a chance to step out of my usual language and materials to explore something new and with passion 🌜 .
